but i guess i’ll sum up what i’ve done during this summer. at the beginning of the summer, i went to my church summer retreat, which was a blast. and i also worked at summer camps and Homestretch (after camps taking care of the kids until their parents come). i’ll see whether or not i will do this job again next summer

i also went to north carolina with my brother and dad, and met up with my cousin who came from korea. it was pretty fun, i met some new people and had a great time with friends and my cousin came back with us home and stayed for awhile; we went to dc and did some sightseeing which was pretty neat.

and lastly, i was also part of a movie making group, POV Workshop, and it is actually almost done and it may be posted up on the BIG SCREEN in DC in October!! i’ll post up details later

so that’s pretty much how my summer went for this year; much more eventful than previous years, i’d say haha. but yeah, senior year is coming up!! it’s pretty crazy, to think that it’s been 12 years of education… and i know this is cliche, but it’s the truth, time flies really fast.

i’m pretty excited for this upcoming year, but also kind of nervous also. i have to finish up my SAT’s and also get all my college apps done and stuff. well, that’s all for now, i’ll post up soon! peace~

so i have finally finished working at the Rockville summer camps rec and parks this past friday. although summer’s not over yet, it does not feel like it’s august at all. it’s been way too quick. camp has been a blast with the kids. i’ll decide later if i’ll do it again next year.

and the POV Film making workshop that i’m part of, it’s going great also. so far, we’ve filmed about half of it with lots of takes and shots. next saturday, we’re going to try and finish it up and edit. it’s coming out pretty well

so, on Monday and Tuesday, i subbed for a camp called Multi-Sports, the name pretty much explains it all. we played lots of games and went to the pool. i saw some kids that i’ve taken care of before in the past, and also met some new kids. it was pretty fun, but tiring.

Homestretch was pretty interesting this week. there are 2 kids at Homestretch, and what they did is just priceless. i wasn’t able to see it, but the other counselors told me that the 2 kids had gone to the bathroom and they decided to take a little bath in the toilets… they had stuck their hands and feet in the water and gotten all wet. it was pretty hilarious.

i also met up with one of my youth pastors from church Peter yesterday for lunch at Applebees. it was such a great time for the both of us. we’ve known each other for probably 5 years or so, but because my church is in VA and i live in MD, we were never really able to hang out and just talk. and it was pretty amazing how last Sunday, his sermon was about “dreaming for big things” and how my last post in my blog was about stepping up and having my wake up call. we talked and learned more about each other as well. simply put, it was a blast.

and our family also bought a car last night, a silver 2009 Toyota Rav 4. it’s a pretty nice car. we actually traded in our old white Toyota minivan also to get some cash back from that program the government had put out, where if you trade in your clunker, you would get $3500-$4500 back, but you would have to purchase a new car (with some restrictions of course). so it’s pretty sweet.

and oh yeah, i actually need to get an English name soon, so if you could all go to my other page on the right side of the page called “new english name” and vote for which name you think would best fit me, i’d appreciate it.

i know being thankful for all of the things i have is pretty important, but in the past recent weeks, it started to hit me real hard.

for example, at my work at summer camp taking care of kids, we provide the kids with snacks, and each kid gets one snack. however, alot of times some of the kids just complain of how either they don’t like the food and want something else instead or they eat a few crackers or chips out of the bag and just throw it out. as i’m watching this, i’m just thinking to myself, “man.. was i like that when i was little? was i thankful for getting FREE food and snacks?” no wait, the question is “Am i REALLY thankful for all of the things God has provided me thus far in my life?” that question just got me thinking real hard lately. i have all of these blessings of having a family, a house to live in, food to eat, a job to earn some money, having lots of friends, and countless more.

do i really deserve all this? NO. what have i done to deserve all this? NOTHING. and that is why not only me, but everyone should realize how important it is to be thankful for what they actually have. i’m just so thankful that God has just poured down all of these blessings onto me and my family.

and for some reason, i have seen lots of homeless people on the streets lately. i see them just standing by the roads holding up their signs asking for money or help. i even saw this one lady who was so desperate that instead of just waiting until someone in a car tells the homeless person to come, but instead, she went to almost every car asking for help. i was just so… well, there is no word for it, except indescribable.

and recently, i’ve found out how my grandmother has gotten really sick, and my mom is even thinking about going back to korea to be with her. it’s just reminded me of how fragile life is and how i need to make most of what opportunities are given to me. i just pray that she will get better soon, and would appreciate it if you all would pray for her too, thanks.

and the subject of being thankful just got me into thinking about having to work hard. i mean, of course, i’ve had that belief in me for a long time, but it’s hit me even harder recently. i knew that i am becoming a senior and that i have to decide colleges and all of that college process with the SATs as well. and so i have thought to myself for awhile now, what am i going to do? i have to now retake the SATs again and try and get a satisfying score. i have to search for colleges. i have to think about what i’m going to do with my life. all these questions. all these problems to encounter and solve.

it’s all just got me thinking hard. what am i really doing with my life right now? my laziness during this summer to not wanting to study has got to change; i really need to step up. a person doesn’t get many chances in this world to show what they got. this is my wake up call.

and my cousin from korea came and he’s staying until October and going to go back to korea later to participate in the mandatory army enlistment for about 2-3 years.
